My primary research interest lies in second language acquisition. So far, I have previously conducted research from various perspectives, including neurolinguistic, theoretical (or generative), and pedagogical approaches. Below, I have summarized my research projects along with related publications and presentations. Please see CV page for more detail.
This topic is related to my PhD project, supervised by Dr. Shiro Ojima (Waseda Univ.). My PhD project has been accepted for DC2.

Ojima, S., Miura, A., & Shibata, N. (October, 2023). How does extremely long exposure to English affect Japanese children’s English speaking, academic Japanese, and brain activity?. Paper presented at Tunghai International Conference on Second Language Teaching and Research 2023. [Refereed]
Ojima, S., Shibata, N., Miura, A., Hirose, Y., & Tanaka, H. (June, 2023) An introduction to the linguistics of Japanese children’s English learning. Invited conference symposium at the 166th Annual conference of the Linguistic Society of Japan.
*Other than child L2 participants, I also investigate L1 brain activity (with Dr. Hiromu Sakai (Waseda Univ.)) and L1/L2 emotion-word processing (with Dr. Kristopher McEown (Univ. of Tokyo).
I originally major in theoretical or generative approaches in my Master’s course. Since then, I continue some projects based on theoretical linguistics with some collaborators Dr. Masahiko Komatsu (kanagawa Univ.), and Mr. Hajime Mori (Unv. of Tokyo)
